Your Heath 🚑, Your Hands 🙌🏻

What I’m about to say is probably not what you want to hear. I mean that in the most sincere, helpful way I know how be. When I work on my clients, I give them my all. I am a giver at heart. I’ve wondered over the years where the balance lies. So what I’ve discovered is that it’s a team effort when it comes to your improving health, namely today the focus is soft tissue health.

The point I am trying to make is that health care professionals can help you. That is as far as it goes. The rest is up to you. Will you regularly check in to keep on track? It’s in your hands. There is no instant cure. I can help your body on the path of healing but what can you do to help yourself?

It’s a team effort when you are working with a health care professional, but remember this. You are the one in control here, and you don’t have to let that overwhelm you. Most people feel more comfortable letting someone else have that job. Don’t let be a de motivator, it is actually a good thing and it empowers you. I’m not saying that you need to start going off and diagnosing yourself. I’m just encouraging everyone to have a more active part in their health, their lives.

There are some things that you can do, and it doesn’t involve climbing Mt Everest. Even the little things count. If done on a regular basis, they add up and it becomes a cycle of events that affect you in a positive way. If you keep up with these changes consistently, you will see consistent results. Sounds attainable, right? There’s always room for improvement.

Good news! There will more posts about what adjustments and friendly reminders we all need to hear to make this path a little easier. For now, let’s just focus on the thought process.

Here goes…

I have always been interested by the human body and thought that one day I would become a doctor. When the sight of anything inside the body made my knees weak, I had to reconsider. What really got me going into the direction of alternative healing was having a desperate need myself.

About a year after I had my daughter, I developed a spasm in my back that immobilized me for 3 days. Any movement was excruciating. I did not know what was happening or why. I didn’t know who to call or go see. It felt like a muscle problem, so I got a hold of a phone book and called and talked to several massage therapists until I felt like I found one that could help me.

I was very doubtful but hopeful about my appointment.  With one visit, I could move again and continued to improve with subsequent visits. To my amazement, soft tissue manipulation was exactly what I needed to release the spasm. Not to mention it felt amazing and was sooo relaxing to have your pain massaged away. After that, I knew that that’s what I wanted to do.

I believe in soft tissue manipulation. My therapies are aimed to be whole treatments that include ligament, tendon, connective tissue, joint health and of course the muscle tissue as well. You can experience this with Neuromuscular Therapy, Deep Tissue Massage, and Thai Massage.

I believe in Visceral Manipulation, which is so vital to proper organ function. I have also seen fantastic results with Acupressure. These  treatments gently reach into the deepest functions and treats the whole body from the innermost to the outermost layers. You can also experience this with Myofascial Release.

Work in Progress

  • As I build this site, I am excited to have a place to  portray everything I wanted about massage, health & wellness. I’ll be using that freedom to easily access and update as the need may be.  I have wanted a place to convey thoughts, explain differences, & answer questions. This is a huge undertaking and I am a little overwhelmed by the enormity of it all. I know it will be worth it in the end. It is what I particularly enjoy anyway, doing a little investigating about my interests then posting about it!  I think this was a step in the right direction.
